Google Ad Grants provides eligible nonprofits with $10,000 per month in free Google Search advertising. Available in 50+ countries including India. Covers text-based search ads only.
Is it really free?
Yes. No credit card, no billing information required. The grant is entirely in-kind advertising credit. Management fees are separate.
Who is eligible?
Registered nonprofits with valid charitable status, a Goodstack-verified Google for Nonprofits account, and a working HTTPS website. Government bodies, hospitals, and schools are not eligible.
How do I apply?
Register at google.com/nonprofits, complete Goodstack verification (2-14 days), activate the grant from your dashboard, build one compliant campaign, and submit for review. Full process takes 2-4 weeks.
What are the compliance requirements?
5% minimum CTR monthly, Quality Score above 3 on all keywords, at least one tracked conversion monthly, proper campaign structure, monthly logins, changes every 90 days, and an annual survey.
Does the grant expire?
No expiry date. The grant runs indefinitely while your account stays compliant. Suspended accounts can be reactivated by fixing violations and submitting a review request.
Can Indian NGOs get this grant?
Yes. Registered societies, trusts, or Section 8 companies with 12A/80G and valid FCRA registration qualify. The grant delivers approximately Rs 8 lakh per month in advertising credits. Indian CPCs are 60-80% lower than US benchmarks, so the budget goes 3-5x further.
What happens if my account is suspended?
Ads stop immediately. Fix every identified violation, then submit a compliance review request. Google responds within 2-5 business days. Pangolin offers emergency reactivation support.
Can I run paid ads alongside the grant?
Yes. Paid accounts can run display, video, and Shopping campaigns with no CPC cap. Google prioritizes paid ads for shared keywords. Many nonprofits run both simultaneously.
How long until I see results?
Traffic starts within the first week. Meaningful conversions typically take 4-8 weeks. By month three, clear patterns emerge. Indian nonprofits often see faster volume due to lower average CPCs.
